"In gym class, they called him "Twinky", but [in the safety patrol], he called the shots."
—Max about Douglas

Douglas Twinkmeyer is a minor character in Goof Troop who is the main antagonist in the episode "Lethal Goofin'". He is a student in Max's class and the (former) chief safety who wanted to get rid of all but one Lefty McGuffin baseball card.

Personality

Douglas is described as a know-it-all by Max, implying he had high intelligence. And because of it, he used it to earn his way to being "the most respected kid in school". He is also very cunning, and quite possibly resentful towards everyone around him, hiring bullies to do his bidding and acting as though he had nothing to do with it. And when it came to taking care of bullies, he hired the least likely to succeed. But when he was forced to hire people who had a chance, he assigned them away from another bully attack, only for that attack to be stopped as well.

Throughout the episode, Douglas seemed to have heavily relied on his bully henchmen when it came to stopping people bigger than him; and on his mother, so that she could bring the Lefty baseball cards to the laundry cleaners so that they could be washed up and permanently destroyed. However, he did try to snatch back the cards from Max, probably because he knew Max wasn't exactly the physical type. As Mr. Big, he attempted to keep his identity hidden, and acted egotistic and scheming, as a crime boss usually would. But when Max found out his identity, he congratulated him and P.J., acting as though it did not bother him. He is also very arrogant, believing that they were too late to stop him, and enjoys mocking his enemies for their flaws, such as Max's reliance on P.J.. But when Max called him "Twinky", he testified against it, saying that it was "a cheap shot".

Abilities

Douglas is a highly intelligent student who seemed to know a lot about astrology, being the school's astrologer. He has had other occupations too, such as chief editor, copy boy and photographer. He also made up a well planned scheme, hiring two bullies to do the dirty work for him, and using his status as an alibi so that no one would suspect him. He even knew to use the back door to get ahead of Max and P.J.. However, he could not detect a diversion when Max easily distracted him.

Besides being intelligent, Douglas is a proficient marksman, having used a slingshot to shoot gum over Nails' mouth. He is also very stealthy, getting away from the scene and out of his "Mr. Big" look when he was being chased and also keeping a safe distance while taking an exceptionally good photo with Max and P.J.'s good sides. He also survived being knocked into a wall, an attack from P.J. and getting washed away by a flooding washing machine.

Douglas' appearance in "Axed by Addition"

Douglas is a short, anthropomorphic dog with an unusually large head, a mop of hair, which covers some of his scalp, droopy ears that come down to his shoulders, black eyebrows and freckles. He also wears a pair of glasses over his eyes. He is sometimes shown to have fingernails, although it might be for a goofy effect. Comparing his height to Max, it can be argued that his head comes to Max's top. It is believed that he may be inspired by the Warner Bros. character, Droopy.

Douglas' cameo

Douglas' second appearance in "Take Me Out of the Ball Game"

Douglas' color scheme tends to change depending on the episode. In his debut, he had tan skin, brown hair and a light blue shirt with blue pants and white sneakers. In "Take Me Out of the Ball Game", he has light skin and brown hair that sticks out from his baseball cap, which is yellow and red, along with the rest of his uniform. In his form made into a major character, he has red hair, white skin and black ears. He also wears a tan uniform with brown pants and black boots as well as a red sash with a golden badge on it.

History

He first appears as a background character in "Axed by Addition", when he takes a test. He is later shown waiting for the bus.

He later appears in "Take Me Out of the Ball Game", where he is a member of the Spoonerville Sluggers baseball team. He is seen taking a hit at the ball and then running to the first base. He also witnesses the coach get hit by a baseball due to Goofy and Pete's interference with the last playoff.

Douglas as Mr

Douglas as Mr. Big

His most prominent appearance was in "Lethal Goofin'". After taking down a bully named Tooth, Max and P.J. enter into his office to sign up for the school safety force, but Douglas initially refused. But after being pressured by the other safety members and given an example of P.J.'s rump-bumping, he reluctantly makes them school safety patrolmen. He is later waiting in his office for his two bully henchmen, which happened to be Tooth and his recently new partner Nails, only to hear that they were both beaten by Max and P.J., who called themselves the "Bumpinators". To this, he tells them to pull off heists everywhere and then to eliminate the duo the next time they interfered.

The opposite happens when Max and P.J. beat the bullies and capture Nails, who almost reveals Douglas as Mr. Big under visual torment of P.J.'s posterior, until Douglas slings a wad of gum over his mouth and removes his gloves before getting knocked into his locker unintentionally by Max and P.J.. They let him out and he tells them to take a break, but they insisted on telling him their accomplishment, but Nails got away. Then Douglas tells them again to go home. Later, he meets with his henchman, scolding them for how he needed to get involved to protect his identity. Then he tells them that they had enough quarters to start the second phase of his plan. When Max and P.J. come into his office to figure out where the two bullies would strike next, Douglas redirects them to a certain spot where the two began their stakeout. Everything went according to Douglas' plan, as Max and P.J. attacked the bullies and squashed Melvin by mistake, who was selling his Lefty Mcguffin baseball card to the bullies.

The next day, Douglas showed the disgraced duo they made the front page in the school newspaper. Max was disgusted with it, until Douglas revealed he himself was the editor. He then strips Max and P.J. of their positions and takes delight in destroying their sashes. His act didn't last for long, as Max and P.J. discovered that he took their picture and Max figured out he was Mr. Big. Sure enough, Douglas appears with the two bullies, and Max brands him as the culprit. Douglas confirms it and congratulates them, although telling them also that no one would believe them, reminding them he was still "the most respected kid in school". During their confrontation, Douglas revealed that he was going to have all but one Lefty McGuffin baseball card eliminated, with the help from his mother, who was just dropping off the laundry with the cards inside.

Douglas' defeat

Douglas' defeat

After a brief knock-out from P.J., Douglas and the bullies chase the duo but manage to get to the laundry area before them using the back way in. At this, Max mockingly called him "Twinky" in disgust, to which Douglas was offended, and tried to have his henchmen beat them down, only for them to get trapped in hung up clothing. After P.J. beats the bullies, he gets stuck, and Douglas taunts Max for his reliance. But Max easily tricks Douglas after telling him that his mother was calling him. When Douglas realized he was tricked, he tried to take back the cards, but gets washed away from the overflowing washing machine being left open. After all the cards were returned to their respective owners, Douglas was stripped of his position and reassigned to patrolling Pistol's preschool, which Max described as "the most dangerous turf of all".

He makes multiple cameos in "Educating Goofy", in which he was one of Max's classmates. He joins other students in laughter after a lizard Goofy placed in the teacher's drawer surprises her. He becomes surprised himself after finding out it was a rare kind of lizard. He appears the next day when Goofy asks the teacher lots of questions, with which she was impressed. He also appears at Goofy's nomination for student body president and cheers him on.

His last known appearance was in the season two premiere, "Queasy Rider". He appears among other kids witnessing Max trying to play a motorcycling video-game in the arcade until his father showed up. He and the other kids laugh at Max after his accident-prone father ran into some pizzas and got some over Max as well. He watches when Goofy decides to play the game himself, and continues to watch when Goofy crashed the console into another console, which set off like the Domino Effect. It is unknown what happened to him later on.
