The DuckTales comic book published by Disney Comics was the second of four different comic books based on the animated series of the same name. It was one of the company's eight initial titles and ran for eighteen issues from the company's launch in April 1990 to September 1991.
Disney Comics' DuckTales differed from its predecessor, the Gladstone PublishingDuckTales comic, in several ways. In addition to restarting the comic's numbering system with its first issue, this DuckTales comic rarely included multiple stories per issue, and as such, did not contain any reprints of Carl Barks' Uncle Scrooge stories. In fact, while stories intended for overseas distribution had been regular features in the Gladstone title, only two issues of the Disney Comics title (issues #8 and #16) included such stories.
Most of the Disney Comics DuckTales title's run was devoted to three different multi-part adventure stories - "Scrooge's Quest" (published from issues #1-7), "The Gold Odyssey" (issues #9-15), and "A Dime in Time" (issues #17-18). The first two arcs were later reprinted as trade paperbacks by Gemstone Publishing in 2007 and 2008.
Despite this series coming out well after the start of the show's second season (and a mechanical version of the Yeeker birds from "The Unbreakable Bin" making an appearance in issue #5), Bubba, Tootsie, and Fenton oddly did not appear in a single issue of this series.
Due to the Disney Comics Implosion, the DuckTales title was cancelled in October 1991, though Disney continued to regularly publish new DuckTales comic stories in Disney Adventures from then through November 1994.
"Scrooge's Quest - Chapter Two: The Nemesis of Napalabama" Scrooge's search for the kidnapped Webby takes him, Launchpad and the nephews to Napalabama where they investigate a crisis involving stolen Bamboo.
"Scrooge's Quest - Chapter Three: The Fall of New Atlantis" Scrooge's search for the kidnapped Webby leads him into a plot that involves Magica De Spell, Flintheart Glomgold, and the Beagle Boys.
"Scrooge's Quest - Chapter Four: Shipwrecked" After Webby got rescued in the last chapter Scrooge decides to take her, Mrs. Beakley, Launchpad, and the nephews on a cruise but he gets shipwrecked along the way.
"Scrooge's Quest - Chapter Five: Down, But Not Out, in Duckburg" Scrooge, Launchpad and the Nephews return to Duckburg only to find out that Flintheart Glomgold has taken over.
"Scrooge's Quest - Chapter Six: Witch Way Did She Go?" Scrooge, Launchpad, Webby, and the Nephews have to retrieve Scrooge's Number One Dime from Magica De Spell.
"Scrooge's Quest - Chapter Seven: All That Glitters is Not Glomgold" Scrooge, Launchpad, Webby and the Nephews return to Duckburg to free it from Flintheart's control.
"The Gold Odyssey - Chapter One: Terror at the Top of the World" Launchpad, Scrooge, and the rest of the gang confront poachers in the Arctic. But is this poaching merely a cover-up for even more bizarre crimes?
"The Gold Odyssey - Chapter Two: Moon of Gold" Scrooge and company seek the source of some 84 karat gold nuggets. The trail takes them from the Yukon to New Swampadonia, and finally to deadly Claw Island, inhabited only by red crabs who think it's dinnertime.
"The Gold Odyssey - Chapter Three: The Once and Future Warlock" Escaping from Crab Island, Scrooge, Launchpad, and the kids follow the trail of the golden comet to Stonehenge, where Doofus is transformed into a Druid priest.
"The Gold Odyssey - Chapter Four: Lost Beyond the Milky Way" The stage is set for Scrooge and Flintheart Glomgold to face off in the dark void, as Scrooge's Star Sojourner goes where no tycoon has gone before--in pursuit of the mother meteor of gold!
"The Gold Odyssey - Chapter Five: The Doomed of Sarras" A hyper-speed collision in space leads to a dramatic rescue and a terrific repair bill, which in turn leads Scrooge and company to a planet made of purest gold.
"The Gold Odyssey - Chapter Six: Planet Blue" Will Launchpad, Scrooge, and the nephews actually leave Flintheart Glomgold stranded on the golden desert of the planet Sarras?
"The Gold Odyssey - Chapter Seven: The Odyssey Ends" Scrooge and his fellow spacefarers are back in Duckburg at last, but now they have to contend with the Beagle Boys, who have come up with the ultimate plan to loot Scrooge's Money Bin.
"A Dime in Time - Part 2" Pursuing his lucky Number One Dime and Magica De Spell back through time, Scrooge and the gang find themselves in ancient Rome, facing lions in the Coliseum!
